Guide: WordPress 2.7.1 Hassle-Free Upgrade
WordPress 2.7.1 is out with several fixes, and it is recommended for all WordPress users to upgrade to this version (if you’re using wordpress.com, then you don’t have to worry about this, I’m referring to stand-alone users).
The awesome thing about version 2.7 is that it have built-in automatic upgrade. Previously only the plugins are upgraded this way, now the entire WordPress itself can be upgraded with these simple steps:
Get to the Upgrade Screen
See the little yellow infobar on top? Click there! (see screenshot below)
Choose to Upgrade Automatically
On the following screen, there will be 2 options, one is manual upgrade (the old school way) and another is the automatic upgrade. Choose ‘Upgrade Automatically’
Enter your Credentials
Just like the plugin upgrade page, enter your FTP password to proceed with the automatic upgrade.
Now Wait
Now sit back and wait a while, and let the upgrader does its job. Upon successful upgrade, you’ll get this screen:
