Yahoo! & Windows Live! (MSN) Interoperability
Earlier this morning I’ve got and invite to try the new Windows Live! Messenger (this is actually MSN Messenger 8) with the new support for Yahoo! Messenger interoperability. I quickly signed up and download the updated client.
Once it’s installed, I tried adding my own Yahoo! Messenger account, and voila! I got a notice from Yahoo! Messenger saying someone from Windows Live! wants to add me, and I have to update my client to be able to talk to this person (I am using the current Yahoo! Messenger 7.5). So another round of quick sign up with the Yahoo! Messenger 8 beta program and installed the client.
Finally, these two can talk to each other directly just like that. Soon (when the beta ends and this service is launched officially) we can choose to stick to only one preferred client, and still have all our favorite contacts in it!
